Merry Christmas in KIMONO

December 7, 2017

It was just commonsense to me to wear ZORI (Japanese sandals) for KIMONO, however...

Lately I've grown accustomed to combinations such as a pair of boots, colorful and patterned TABI (KIMONO socks) and GETA (Japanese wooden clogs), with KIMONO.

If I take a look on retro pictures of my mother and grandmother who wore KIMONO daily, I can see how open minded they were in terms of coordinates. Of course, a pair of white TABI is indispensable for formal occasions, but patterned and/or thermals TABIs can give you more variety of joy for daily use. I mean, just as you find some fun in choosing which pretty socks to wear today. In this season, YUMEYAKATA offers you a special edition of TABI made of velvet fabric.

The other day, I came across a very pretty KIMONO display in a store window (shown at the picture below). The KIMONO was in navy, and the OBI (belt) and the bag was in the same green pattern. There was a golden sash along with the OBI, and a red beret on top. On the chest, a red broach was swinging, and the collar was a layer of three different colors in red, green and gold.

I couldn't help stood still for a while. That was...oh, so pretty! I wish I could copy this style and go to a Christmas party to catch every girl's envious eyes!
